Iris M. Zavala (1936-2020): pensadora, escritora, historiadora Maestra, mitad caribe y peninsular de la otra orilla

2020
The death of intellectual, writer and thinker Iris M. Zavala has left a great void, not only on a scientific level, but also symbolic, on the shores of the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The University of Malaga was fortunate to strengthen ties with this teacher of teachers and reward her magnificent career by appointing her in 2004 as an honorary doctorate. We remember in this article this act, as well as her prolific work of reflection-creation, activities that she did not usually separate, visible in the legacy that leaves us. We also emphasize the importance of her legacy in connecting female knowledge and recovering genealogies on both shores, beyond and more here. Serve this article of homage to the writer who already rests on the pantheon of writers, warriors and women-guides of knowledge.
