Limestone hardening system for brindisi's power station: first límestone recarbonation unit installed in italy for industrial water production

1991
Abstract The paper reports the main parameters of the project accomplished for the Italian Electrical Power Governement Company (ENEL), concerning the design and supply of a limestone hardening system to produce industrial water for power station utilities and services. The limestone pressure bed system produces recarbonated industrial water at 50 ÷ 80 ppm, as CaCO 3 alkalinity, dosing carbon dioxide on the distillate produced by three MSF desalination plants operating at 100°C. The plant has a capacity of 210 cu.m/h and an high operation flexibility to meet the different distillate utilizations inside the power station. The paper reports the main plant characteristics, materials and design data of this first unit installed in South Italy.
