Arylpropylamine having antifungal activity

PURPOSE: To provide the subject compound represented by a specific structural formula, having a high activity as a growth restraining agent for pathogenic fungi, which prevent cultivation of useful plants, and effective for preventing diseases derived from pathogenic fungi such as Erysiphe genus. CONSTITUTION: The objective compound represented by formula I, (wherein R 1 , R 2 are each 1-6C alkyl or the like; R 3 is 1-3C alkyl; R 4 is halogen, 1-3C alkyl or 1-3C haloalkyl; (m) is 0 to 4; R', R" are each H, 1-3C alkyl or the like; (n) is 0 to 3; and Y is ethenyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl or the like) is obtained by reacting an allyl alcohol having formula II and a phenol represented by formula III, (wherein X is Br, I or the like) in the presence of Pd (II) and a base, adding an amine represented by formula V to the obtained aldehyde represented by formula IV for hydrogenation in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, and reacting a compound represented by formula VII, (wherein G is Cl, Br, I or the like) with the obtained amine represented by formula VI.
