A IMPORTÂNCIA DO ACOLHIMENTO AOS PAIS EM UNIDADE DE TERAPIA INTENSIVA NEONATAL

This study aimed to describe the importance of the nursing team in welcoming parents of newborns admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This is an exploratory bibliographic review. The search and selection of studies were carried out through the Virtual Health Library (VHL). The literature points to the prevalence of care cast in NICUs, where the participation of parents in these environments still happens in a restricted, superficial, and even inhumane way. Professionals do not feel qualified to contribute to the necessary changes in this scenario, especially to carry out welcoming to parents. It was possible to conclude that, for a humanized reception to happen, it is necessary that some barriers be overcome, so that, in this way, parents find it easier to approach their children. It is also necessary that more research in this area of knowledge be carried out and the present work reinforces this importance.
