Elastic ModulusInvestigation ofGallium Nitride Nanotubes

In this study, weanalyzed gallium nitride nanotubes whichwereformedhighly oriented onac-axis perpendicular to substrate surface byusing nanoindentation technique. We were focusing experimental observations on thenanomechanical properties. The behavior ofthegallium nitride nanotube breakage accompanying withcompression testwasexamined usinga Nanoindentation Systemenabling theapplication of compressive force tothenanotubes homogeneously. Thebuckling energyofcompression forasingle gallium nitride nanotube had beenmeasured. Thecorresponding valueofElastic Modulusof gallium nitride nanotube wasalsocharacterized. Withcomparing tothinfilmnanoindentation experiment, theElastic Modulusof gallium nitride nanotubes inthis experiment wasshift fromthat inbulk-crystal ofgallium nitride.
