The complex challenge of acid rain

There are pressures on the U.S. and Canadian governments to adopt some form of acid rain-related controls. What may really have to be done requires greater recognition of the roles played by SO/sub 2/ and NO/sub x/ emissions and by other pollutants, and of the contributions from both mobile and stationary sources.
