Study on Preparation and Hydrogen Storage Properties of Mg_(76-x)V_xTi_(12)Ni_(12)(x=4,8,12,16) Alloys

Mg76-xVxTi12Ni12(x=4,8,12,16) alloys were prepared by mechanical alloying.Hydrogen storage and microstructure of ball milled Mg76-xVxTi12Ni12(x=4,8,12,16) alloys were investigated by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscope and presure-composition-isotherm measurement.It was found from XRD results that the main binary alloy phase consist of Mg2Ni and Ti2Ni.The hydrogen storage capacity of the Mg76-xVxTi12Ni12(x=4,8,12,16) alloys were 3.71%,3.12%,2.85% and 2.33%,respectively.It decreased with the increasing of V content.The hydrogen desorption rate of Mg76-xVxTi12Ni12(x=4,8,12,16) hydride were 95.1%,97.1%,84.9% and 94.4%.A appropriate of V content can improve hydrogen desorption rate of them.
