On the Psychoanalytical Novels by Shi Zhecun--On His Literary Motif Preference as well

2005
Shi Zhecun, as a productive and outstanding novelist in the history of Chinese modem literature, and an advocator of modem literature, is known for his psychoanalytical novel. Many of his works such as: The General' s Head, An Evening in the Period of Plum Rains, Master Huangxin and Jiumoluoshi, all focus on the depiction of characters surface - consciousness, sub - consciousness and unconsciousness , to reveal the interior psychological motives of character s exterior behaviours. Under the guidance of Freudism, this characteristic runs through the whole process of his 10 years creation, with its outstanding pioneering, modernity and heterogeneity forming his specific interpretation and motif preference of literature, developing a school of his own in Chinese modem literature.
