The Variational Formulas of the Fundamental Mode Propagation Constant in NonlinearStep-index Fiber

The propagation constant formulas of the fundamental mode in Kerr-lawnonlinear step-index fiber are derived by the variational method.It is shown that the optical beam power has great effect on the propagation constant of the fundamental mode.
