Nucleon form factors in. pi. N. --> pi pi. N reactions at low energies

It is shown that, when the background provides an unknown contribution, the nucleon form factor for the ..pi..N..--> pi pi..N reaction amplitude at laboratory momenta less than or equal to500 MeV/c is equivalent to a point form factor.
