Effect of solvents on the coal pyrolysis under mild conditions

The effect of water presence on the yields and characteristics of pyrolysis products in mild pyrolysis of low-rank coals was investigated. Three types of coals varying in rank and moisture content were used for the investigation. The presence of water in the reactor leads to an increase in the liquid products yield. Pretreatment of subbituminous coal by water in autoclave at 230 C lads to an increase in the gas products yield and a decrease in the liquid products yield in mild pyrolysis.
