Daflon: A new haemostatic for IUDs induced bleeding.

1981
The effectiveness clinical and biological tolerance of Daflon in women with hemorrhage and venous insufficiency secondary to intrauterine contraceptive devices was studied. 95 patients of mean age 28.2 with IUDs were given 6 tablets per day for 1 month then 4 tablets per day for 2 months (where 1 tablet = .375 gm of flavonoids) for a total study period of 3 months. The menstrual periods of a control group of non-Daflon users with IUDs were compared to the study group. Among the Daflon Group more patients had after 3 months normal period lengths flow amounts and also showed less intermenstrual bleeding than the control group. Many substances such as vitamin C Rutin calcium and iron have been used to reduce the heavy menstrual flow associated with IUDs but with no valuable therapeutic results. The authors contend that Daflon is an effective safe method to reduce increased endometrial bleeding associated with IUDs.
