Femtosecond optical switches based on fullerene-containing media: Numerical simulation

The possibility of creating femtosecond optical switches based on fullerene-containing media is studied numerically. Two approaches to the problem are considered, namely, a film of a fullerene-polymer solid solution and a fullerene film obtained by vacuum deposition. In both cases, the films are placed into a Fabry-Perot interferometer. The polarization nonlinearity of fullerene allows a light-induced change in the refractive index. The possibility of controlling the interferometer transmission using low-intensity signals is demonstrated.
