The Use of Language and Language User’s Cultural Model

Language is inextricably bound with culture. Language is the carrier of culture which conveys cultural connotations of a nation. Culture has many restraints on the intercultural communication and people’s verbal communication takes place side by side with conflicts and melting of different cultural models. This paper discusses about the definition and traits of language, culture, and culture model. It also explores how language user’s cultural model influences the use of their language. The exploration includes two aspects: cultural model determines discourse model and influences language users; cultural model influences situated meaning of language in different contexts.
