The invention relates to a preparation method for a quantum dot. The method comprises the following concrete steps: firstly adding copper salt, manganese salt, zinc salt, indium salt, sulfur, alkanethiol and aliphatic amine into a three-mouth flask, carrying out stirring and heating for a certain time; then cooling an obtained solution to 60 DEG C, and adding a quantum dot solvent and a quantum dot precipitating agent so as to obtain a turbid solution; and subjecting the obtained turbid solution to centrifugation in a centrifugal machine for 10 minutes, and adding the quantum dot solvent into an obtained precipitate so as to obtain doping type zinc-indium-sulfur quantum dots dispersed in the solvent. According to the invention, a zinc-indium-sulfur quantum dot does not contain cadmium, and non-cadmium elements are doped into the zinc-indium-sulfur quantum dot, so the quantum dot can realize an integral quantum dot structure without cadmium, is safe and environment-friendly, is capable of having excellent properties and has significant industrial development prospects. The invention aims to provide a preparation method for a quantum dot with good light ray performance and without cadmium.
