Treatment and prohibition of viral infection using hbnf and mk protein

1993
PURPOSE: To obtain a medicine compsn. which consists of an effective amt. of HBNF or MK alone or a combination thereof characterized by the presence of heparin conjugatable proteins and a pharmaceutically permissible carrier and is useful for prohibiting the infection of the viruses. CONSTITUTION: The HBNF and MK which are the two novel heparin conjugatable proteins are incorporated as effective components into the compsn. The HBNF and MK replace heparin conjugatable growth factor bFGF with a receptor having high affinity, impairs the growth of the endothelial cells thereof an prohibits the adsorption of the virus to the cell surfaces. The HBNF protein and the MK protein may be derived from natural sources of may be derived recombinantly. A human HBNF and a human MK are more preferable and tare effective to viruses of Herpesviridae, more particularly human Cytomegaloviruses. The effective dosage thereof is in a range of 1 μg to 100 mg, more preferably 0.1 to 10 mg per 1 kg body wt.
