Correlation between thermal expansion and magnetic behavior in cold deformed FeAl alloys

Abstract The magnetic properties of cold deformed Fe 60 Al 40 alloys were investigated. An increase in the magnetic susceptibility was found after deformation. Thermal expansion measurements in cold worked samples show a volume decrease upon heating at the ferro-paramagnetic phase transition, according to magnetic measurements.
