The influence of oxidative dehydropolycondensation of triphenylbenzene on the structure and luminescent and magnetooptical properties of its products

2001
The process of oxidative dehydropolycondensation of 1,3,5-triphenylbenzene was studied, and the reaction conditions leading to the maximum yield of soluble products were determined. Oxidative processes afford products containing triphenylene, dibenzopyrene, and other fused aromatic moieties. The conduction of the reaction under more severe conditions leads to parallel enhancement of the photoluminescence quantum yield and magnetic spin effect as a consequence of increasing the proportion of fused compounds. The involvement of bridging groups in the structure of oligomers is responsible for additional nonradiative energy losses for rotations and, hence, for a decrease in the quantum yield.
