The changes observed in the structure of Low-carbon steels in relation to heating temperature should be kept in mind in selecting the final heat treatment as well as he~ting conditions for rolling, forging, etc.

We investigated* the effect of nitrogen on the composition of vanadium phase, its distribution, and the mechanical properties of steel 16G2AF containing up to 0.020% A1. The chemical composition of steel 16G2AF was within the following Limits; 0.17-0.18% C, 0.45-0.50% Si, 1.3-1.4% Mn, upto 0.1% cU and Ni, 0.005-0.008% S, 0.002-0.006% P. The concentrations of nitrogen, vanadium, and aluminum and the composition of the vanadium phase are given in Table 1.
