Strategy of Decreasing Complications of Anticoagulation Therapy After Prosthetic Heart Valve Replacement

2005
Thrombosis, thromboembolism and hemorrhage associated with anticoagulation are the most common and severe complications after prosthetic heart valve replacement. They are also the main cause of death in post-operative period, and seriously affect the life quality of patients. In recent years, through reasonable anticoagulation therapy monitoring, decreasing the intensity of anticoagulation therapy and improving valve quality, the complications associated with anticoagulation have significantly decreased. However, the best way is to exploit a kind of valve that does not need anticoagulation therapy. Therefore, the researches and uses of tissue engineered heart valve and gene engineered heart valve will change the current conditions of anticoagulation therapy thoroughly after prosthetic heart valve replacement.
