Investigation on intestinal parasites infection in swinery in Guangxi

2013
【Objective】 The intestinal parasite prevalence of swinery from large-scale pig farms and free-ranging farmers in Guangxi was investigated to provide scientific evidence for farmers to prevent and control parasitic disease.【Method】 Using direct smear method, precipitation method, nylon sieve washing method,Lugol's iodine staining method, and sucrose solution method of floating, totally 3021 samples from large-scale pig farms and free-ranging farmers in 12 cities of Guangxi were detected.【Result】 The results showed that intestinal parasites infected swinery in Guangxi were mainly Eimeria spp,Balantidium coli, nematode and Cryptosporidium spp, which had low infection rate, consequently it was normal situation. In the large-scale pig farm, the infection rate sequence was Strongyloididae(2.26%) whipworm(0.98%) roundworm(0.81%) Oesophagostomum(0.58%),while for free-ranging farmers,it was roundworm and whipworm(8.19%) Oesophagostomum(4.56%).Infection rates of the pigs 0-6 months old rose along with the time.Six months later, the infection rate in large-scale pig farms leveled, but it dramatically dropped in farmers' rang.【Conclusion】 The dominant species of intestinal parasites in parasitic infection of Guangxi swinery population were Ascaris suum and Trichuris suis,as a result, regarding swinery management, the major focus will still be Ascaris suum and Trichuris suis in the following few years.
