Cold Workability and Corrosion Resistance of High Strength Martensitic Stainless Steels.

1993
Cold workability and corrosion resistance of high strength martensitic stainless steels were investigated for the purpose of application to cold forged parts. Cold workability of high carbon stainless steels can be improved by lowering C, Cr and Si contents and by refining carbides. Corrosion resistances in mild atmosphere increase with Cr content. Steels with medium Cr content ranged from 5 to 11 wt% show equivalent corrosion resistances to commercial Ni plating.
