Isolation of canine parvovirus in CRFK cell line from faecal samples of diarrhoeic dogs

2015
A total of 178 faecal samples from diarrhoeic dogs were subjected to sandwich ELISA for detection of canine parvovirus (CPV) and 45 samples were found positive. Fifteen random faecal samples positive in sandwich ELISA were inoculated in CRFK cell line for isolation of the virus and 8 (53.33%), 10 (66.67%) and 11 (73.33%) samples were positive for CPV in first, second and third passage, respectively. All the 11 cell culture isolates did not show any cytopathic effect (CPE) in cell monolayer up to third passage.
