Light-pipe optical joints made from silicone disks

1989
Abstract A method of fabricating optical joints from a transparent silicone rubber compound is described. In an experiment lasting five years the disks were used successfully to join acrylic light pipes in a photomultiplier detector system. They proved to be highly reliable, resistant to aging and radiation damage, mechanically flexible, easy to make and convenient to use.
