Lithium metal oxide, and negative electrode active material for lithium secondary battery having same, and manufaturing method therefor

The present invention relates to a lithium metal oxide that has a surface on which a nickel oxide layer is formed, and that is represented by Chemical Formula LixMyOz (where M is one or more types selected from the group consisting of Ti, Sn, Cu, Pb, Sb, Zn, Fe, In, Al and Zr, and x, y and z are determined according to the oxidation number of M). The lithium metal oxide according to the present invention has a nickel oxide layer formed on the surface thereof, thereby forming a stable solid electrolyte interface film, can exhibit excellent electrochemical characteristics in the voltage region of 1V or less, can achieve a long life span, a high initial efficiency and output, and thus can be advantageously used for manufacturing a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery, and a lithium secondary battery having the same. The lithium metal oxide of the present invention can be manufactured using a method for manufacturing a lithium metal oxide having a surface on which a nickel oxide layer is formed, the method comprising the steps of: (1) complexing a nickel precursor on the surface of the lithium metal oxide; and (2) calcining by heat-treating the lithium metal oxide having the nickel precursor complexed on the surface thereof which is obtained in step (1).
