Life Cycle Impact Assessment of Fuel Ethanol

ALife cycle impact assessment model for Chinese fuel ethanol was established in this paper,and the life cycle assessment of cassava-based fuel ethanol was taken.The result showed that combustion and vehicle operation was the key stage contributed to the life cycle,whose overall environmental impact value (OEIV) was about 51.82%,following by fuel production of 41.32% and feedstock production of 6.86%.The OEIV of gasoline-ethanol blends could be decreased with the increase of blending ratio of cassava-based ethanol.The OEIV of cassava-based ethanol is small compared to that of gasoline.
