Bending of High-strength Low-alloyed Steel with Respect to Edge Crack Sensitivity Caused by Shearing Operations

2014
Abstract Within this analysis a combination of shearing and bending is designed and carried out. Out of sheared blanks specimens for an air bending test are conducted and subjected to a bending load under a systematic variation of process determining parameters. It is shown that especially the position of the fracture area caused by blanking in the bending area of tensile stresses leads to a significant increase of the edge crack sensitivity and thus has to be considered as an important interaction of the two processes. Also a strong influence of the material anisotropy on the occurring damage and failure is detected.
