Development Of A Tool For Air PollutionManagement And Emergency Response(MISTRAL Project)

On the basis of a network of 50 anemometers and two SODAR systems, a windfield climatology of the densely populated and highly industrialized region of Basel is being established A trajectory-based classification of windfields is presented Such a classification is a crucial prerequisite for the development of an easy to use system for the calculation of emission fields using transfer coefficients calculated with a Monte Carlo diffusion model. Applications of this system are investigations of air hygienic aspects of town planning as well as emergency response planning and managing in case of chemical hazards.
