The oral route of administration of antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial infections is by far the most practical within poultry industry. However, the medication via food or drinking water bears several risks, such as intake of insufficient doses and contaminations of the barn, which can increase selection of resistant bacteria. Furthermore, the limited availability of antimicrobials for various poultry species complicates the therapy of bacterial diseases in practice. This overview summarises practical problems and suggestions to solve the problems
