Two element UWB-MIMO Antenna with modified Ground Stub Structure

2021
This article presents the design and analysis of a two-port multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna, that covers the range of frequencies from 3.9 GHz – 10.3 GHz. The single element antenna can be described as an altered variant of the rectangular microstrip antenna. Our antenna design consists of two radiating elements of identical geometry etched on a single FR4 substrate of 1.6 mm height. The relative permittivity of the substrate is 4.4. A 50-ohm microstrip line feeds each patch element separately. In terms of size, the MIMO antenna has a reduced size of 20 mm x 32 mm. The MIMO system can be used for high data rate transmissions.
