Proposta di aggiornamento dell’inquadramento biogeografico della fauna ittica d’Abruzzo
2019
Studies on the fish species of the freshwater bodies of the Abruzzi region have been mainly conducted on the basis of administrative territorial subdivisions. The current Provincial Fish Maps (Turin et al., 1998; Ruggieri, 2006; AA.VV., 2007) are informative, but not very useful at the bio-geographical level. For this reason, the current knowledge on the regional fish fauna has to be considered fragmented and quite unsatisfactory. In application of the 2000/60 Community Directive EC, further studies should be conducted on the basis of ichthyogeographic districts. Recent national and local research have increased the knowledge on the presence of fish species in the territory. In addition, the Abruzzi Region is working to obtain a definitive Regional Fish Map based on the fish distribution by the ichthyo-geographic districts, to be also used for the management and protection of the fish fauna. Zerunian (2002) divided the Italian territory into two ichthyo-geographic Regions: Padana and an Italico-Peninsular one. Conversely, Bianco (2013) identified three districts: Padany- Venetian; Tuscany-Latium; Apulia-Campania. In both cases, the Abruzzi is located, in a district border area. The present work represents a proposal to update the bio-geographic assessment of the freshwater fish fauna of the Abruzzi region recently suggested by Giansante et al. (2017) and included 38 freshwaters fish species, resulted equally subdivided in autochthonous and allochthonous species.
