Novel perylene-based organic dyes for electro-fluidic display

Electro-fluidic display (EFD) is one of the most promising reflective displays for its full color and video speed. Colored EFD oil, normally formulated by dissolving soluble organic dyes in non-polar solvent, dominates color, electro-optical behavior and reliability performances for Electro-fluidic display devices. In this paper, novel perylene-based organic dyes for Electrofluidic display, which can cover yellow, orange, red, magenta and cyan colors, were synthesized. The absorbance, electrooptical and light stability properties were tested, the results showed the perylene-based organic dyes are especially suitable for EFD.
