Sequestro pulmonar com diagnóstico pré-natal. Caso clínico

2007
Pulmonary sequestration is an infrequent broncho-pulmonary malformation, in which a portion of lung tissue receives its blood supply from the systemic circulation and doesn’t communicate with the bronchial tree through a normal bronchus. We report a newborn, in which a lung mass suggestive of pulmonary sequestration was identified on prenatal ultrasound. This was confirmed on a Doppler ultrasound during the neonatal period with the identification of the sequestration’s arterial blood supply. The child remained asymptomatic and was submitted to surgical resection of the sequestration at eight months of age. Recent advances in prenatal imagiological techniques made it possible to presumptively diagnose pulmonary sequestration during gestation.
