El IREC:: Breve e intensa historia al servicio de las ciencias veterinarias

espanolEl Instituto de Investigacion en Recursos Cinegeticos nace hace dos decadas a iniciativa de tres instituciones, el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas, la Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha y la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha. Su objetivo fundacional es la investigacion de diversos aspectos relativos a la caza, entendida esta como un recurso natural renovable respetuoso con el medio ambiente y compatible con otras actividades economicas como la ganaderia extensiva. En el abordaje de los objetivos particulares de los grupos de investigacion del IREC y dentro del caracter multidisciplinar del instituto, la vision veterinaria esta presente en una gran parte de los trabajos realizados. En esta comunicacion se hace referencia a los antecedentes que justifican la creacion del IREC, su estructura y actividades desarrolladas, con especial referencia a su aportacion a las Ciencias Veterinarias, no solo en el ambito cinegetico sino tambien de la fauna silvestre, ganaderia extensiva y medio ambiente. EnglishThe Spanish Institute for Game and Wildlife Research (IREC) was born two decades ago at the initiative of three institutions, the Higher Council for Scientific Research, the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha. Its foundational objective is the investigation of various aspects related to hunting, understood as a renewable natural resource that respects the environment and is compatible with other economic activities such as extensive livestock. In addressing the particular objectives of IREC research groups and within the multidisciplinary nature of the institute, the veterinary vision is present in a large part of the work carried out. In this paper is made to the background that justify the creation of IREC, its structure and activities, with special reference to its contribution to Veterinary Sciences, not only in the hunting field but also in wildlife, extensive and medium livestock ambient.
