Extended - totally extraperitoneal (e-tep) Rives Stoppa technique for incisional hernia repair - video vignette.

2020
: The enhanced-view totally extraperitoneal (eTEP) technique for laparoscopic repair of complex inguinal hernias which was previously described by Jorge Daes overcomes the limitations of the classical TEP technique (1,2). Igor Belyansky et al. adapted this technique to retromuscular mesh implantation for ventral hernia repair, which is called the extended- totally extraperitoneal Rives Stoppa (e-TEP RS) technique (3). With previous laparoscopic techniques for ventral and incisional hernias, intracorporeal defect closure was challenging due to poor ergonomics of the traditional trocar placement (3). E-TEP RS technique recently became more popular with the help of flexible and ergonomic port positions and the possibility of extensive sublay mesh coverage with minimal fixation.
