The invention discloses inorganic lightweight aggregate prepared from inorganic heat insulation material waste. The inorganic lightweight aggregate is prepared through the steps of breaking, screening and grading matching. The inorganic lightweight aggregate includes fine aggregate and coarse aggregate, wherein the nominal diameter of the fine aggregate is smaller than 5 mm, and the nominal diameter of the coarse aggregate is larger than 5 mm. The inorganic heat insulation material waste is aerated concrete waste, or foam concrete waste, or foaming ceramic waste or foamed glass waste. The invention further discloses a method of preparing the inorganic lightweight aggregate from the inorganic heat insulation material waste. As the inorganic lightweight aggregate from the inorganic heat insulation material waste, waste is turned into wealth, natural resource exploitation and energy consumption are reduced, high value-added resource use of the inorganic heat insulation material waste is achieved, and the inorganic lightweight aggregate has obvious economic and social benefits.
