Magnetic and electrical properties of Fe3−xVxSi

2004
Abstract Seebeck coefficient, electrical resistivity, and magnetization measurements have been made on Fe 3− x V x Si alloys with 0.6≤ x ≤1 in comparison with those of Fe 3− x V x Al. Negative large values of the Seebeck coefficient are observed which indicates that the electronic state of Fe 3− x V x Si is likely semimetallic. The concentration dependence of the Seebeck coefficient on the vanadium content at 200 and 500 K is consistent with the developing process of the pseudogap formation and the enhancement of the Fermi energy. Magnetization curves of Fe 2.20 V 0.80 Si at low temperatures show a ferromagnetic character and indicate the Curie temperature being between 100 and 200 K, while we observed positive temperature coefficient of the electrical resistivity up to room temperature in contrast with those of Fe 3− x V x Al.
