Improving the Consumption Capacity of Wind Power in Distributed Network Using a Thyristor Controlled Phase Shifting Transformer

2021
The randomness and uncertainty of wind power generation make it difficult to connect wind power to the grid, and the existing power grid structure also limits the utilization capacity of the wind power. To tackle this issue, this paper uses a thyristor-controlled phase shifting transformer (TCPST), which is able to improve the power distribution of the system and has the potential to improve the consumption capacity of the wind power. The mathematical model of the dual-core symmetrical discrete TCPST is established at first, and then the calculation model of the grid-connected wind power consumption capacity is constructed, via taking into account the transmission capacity of the network and the control ability of the controllable phase shifter. This method not only ensures the high-level consumption of wind power, but also guarantees the economy of system operation. Finally, the analysis as well as verification of the proposed method using TCPST is performed in Matlab via taking the IEEE 30-node system as an example.
