Nobody ever expects to be a victim of crime, however crime and the experience of crime is prominent in our culture, through television shows, movies, books and in newspapers. High profile crimes attract a lot of attention and may become part of our cultural identity with the intimate details played over and over in the media. Crime and the way it is reported can affect the psychological wellbeing of people and may influence lives. However the experiences of victims of crime often go unattended.
