Statins in the treatment and the prevention of the progression of atherosclerosis of patients with coronary heart disease

Statins, the most common drugs to lower lipid levels, are «strategic» products for the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), atherosclerosis, having the ability to reduce the cardiovascular and total mortality. This class of drugs can slow down the course of atherosclerosis and makes it more benign. A special place among statin places rosuvastatin (Crestor®, «AstraZeneca») due to his number of advantages of pharmacological and clinical properties.
