2013
The article gives prospective assessment and comparative analysis of the results of midline and Y-shaped urethrostomy. The protocol included 9 patients, mean age 72, after urethrostomy. The average observation period was 29.5 months. The etiology of strictures presents the following: long-term urethral catheterization (33.3%), traumatic catheterization (22.2%), transurethral surgery (1.1%), partial penectomy (11.1%), penis radiation therapy (11.1%), inflammation (11.1%). The length of strictures varied4-12 cm long (the average length – 7 cm). Midline and Y-shaped urethrostomies were performed in 5 and 4 cases respectively. Bladder was drained by urethral catheter for 2-4 days. The average post-operational hospital stay was 2 days.In 2 patients (40%) after midline urethrostomy perineum stoma stenosis developed, whereas patients after Y-shaped ure-thtostomy followed-up for 6-18 months (median of observation – 1 year) had no perineum stoma stenosis.Y-shaped urethrostomy proved to be successful, thus to be recommended for practical use as a priority method for perineum stoma formation.
