AC Loss Analysis for EAST PF Coils

2018
Experimental and Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) is the first international superconducting tokamak which was designed by ASIPP in China. Its poloidal field (PF) magnet system is consists of 14 coils. As the core part of the internal magnet system, PF coils plays an important role in controlling the plasma configuration of the reactor and ensuring the normal operation of the EAST. The AC loss of the PF coil is a significant factor which affects the stability. In this study, the piecewise linear method and the finite element analysis (FEA) were used to analyze the AC loss of the EAST PF coil under the specific operating current. The final AC loss results were carried out and compared according to the structure, magnetic field and the current. The results could provide the numerical foundation of the EAST magnet design and operation.
