The effect of red and blue light combined with topical drugs for the treatment of acne:Metaanalysis

Objective: To analyze the therapeutic effect of red and blue light combined with topical drugs for the treatment of the patients with acne, in order to supply guidance for clinical evidence. Methods: Domestic literatures on the clinical trials of red and blue light combined with topical drugs for the treatment of acne were retrieved from 2005 to 2014. Metaanalysis was used to analyze the qualified cases by Review Manager 5.3 software. Results: Fifteen review articles were retrieved, and 2 118 patients satisfied the inclusion standard. Compared with the single-use topical drug group, the effective rate of the patients in the combined treatment group was Z=14.87, P<0.00001 and OR=4.65(95%CI, 3.80 to 5.69). Conclusion: Red and blue light combined with topical drug has a better therapeutic effect than that of the single-use topical drug.
