Clear cell carcinoma of the ovary diagnosed in ascitic fluid : A case report

Background Clear cell curcinoma of the ovary (CCC) is 11 run' variety of ovarian cancer. Case A case of CCC in a 49-year-old woman was diagnosed in ascitic fluid on thin-layer prepartions. Peritoneal fluid cytology revealed papillary clusters of cells wiht clear cytoplasm and extracellular byaline material generally without neoplastic cells. The tumor was excised and the bistologic sections confirmed the cytologic diagnosis. Conclusion CCC has a distinctive cytomorphologic appearance, and the entity man diagnosed on ascitic fluid cytolgoy.
