Microbiological study of novel bis-QACs with p-terphenyl spacer

2021
Previously synthesized bis-quaternary ammonium compounds (bis-QACs) with a p-terphenyl spacer between two pyridinium heads were studied for microbiological activity against five pathogenic reference and clinical bacterial strains (Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Acinobacter Baumanii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Results were compared with commonly used antiseptics such as benzalkonium chloride (BAC) and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), and compounds from the previous works of our research group.
