The invention relates to a drive train for a motor vehicle, in particular rail vehicle, - generating at least one drive machine, the drive power for driving the vehicle; - with the engine in the direction of the drive power flow downstream power split which divides the driving power into a plurality of parallel power transmission branches; - a summing gear which combines the drive power from the plurality of parallel power branches and passes the merged drive power for driving drive wheels of the motor vehicle; in which - the parallel power transmission branches comprising a first power branch with a first hydrodynamic coupling and / or a first hydrodynamic converter / transmits the drive power of the first power branch hydrodynamically; and - the parallel power transmission branches comprise a second power branch with a second hydrodynamic coupling and / or a second hydrodynamic converter / transmits the drive power of the second power branch hydrodynamically. The invention is characterized in that the parallel power transmission branches comprise a third purely mechanical power branch, which transmits the drive power of the third power branch exclusively mechanically parallel to the hydrodynamic power transmission in the first and / or second power branch.
