2-(ARYLIMINO)IMIDAZOLIDINES, SYNTHESIS AND HYPOTENSIVE ACTIVITY

The synthesis of various 2-(arylimino)imidazolidines is described. Most compounds were prepared by reaction of N-aryl-S-methylisothiuronium iodides or N-aryldichloroimines with ethylene-diamine. The derivatives differ in substitution in the aromatic moiety. The hypotensive activity of the imidazolidines has been measured following intravenous administration to anaesthetized, normotensive rats. Big differences in hypotensive activity exist within the present series of structurally related compounds.
