A rock bit with hardfacing comprising spherical cast tungsten carbide particles

A hardfacing 16 for teeth 14 and other surfaces of a milled tooth rock bit 10 comprises steel in the range of from 20 to 50 percent by weight, and filler in the range of from 50 to 80 percent by weight. The filler is comprises 10-100% spherical cast tungsten carbide particles which may be in mixture of other tungsten carbide particles such as spherical cemented, crushed cemented, crushed cast and crushed macrocrystalline. The spherical cast tungsten carbide particles are sized in the range of from 16 to 40 mesh and/or in the range of from 80 to 200 mesh.
