Free electron laser and advanced light source studies on electron storage ring and Linac at LASTI

2000
Free electron laser and advanced light source studies are started on the “NewSUBARU”, a 1.5 GeV synchrotron radiation facility, and on the “LEENA”, a Laser Emitted ElectroN Accelerator (15 MeV Linac) at LASTI. NewSUBARU will be used not only as soft x-ray synchrotron radiation sources for various application but also to study a coherent x-ray generation, a γ-ray generation by laser-Compton back scattering and an ultra-short pulse x-ray generation. Preliminary experiments on LEENA with < 6MeV operation shows a far infrared (wavelength of 65 to 75 µm) generation. Newly developing photo cathode RF gun using needle cathode are studied for improve the output power of FEL and expand the operation wavelength from 10µm to 100µm on LEENA.
