RESEARCH ON PROPELLER-HULL INTERACTION IN THE DEPRESSURISED TOWING TANK

Accurate simulation of the wake and propeller hull interaction is absolutely necessary when investigating cavitation and related phenomena on model scale. An important tool to achieve this, as well as reduction of problems of excessive scale effects on hull and propeller flow, is a large towing tank. In this paper developments regarding wake, cavitation inception, hull pressure fluctuations, noise and correlation with full scale are summarised.
